TUESDAY, 10 JULY 07-- IRREGULAR AND GUSTY WINDS ON THE BAY
Michael joined us for an afternoon outing on an afternoon with thin high cloud layers.

Winds were moderate when we left port about 2 pm.

As we headed west with a light ebb current assist, ADVENTURE CAT was returning to port.

We sailed to the west a ways and then tacked toward the lee of pier 45.
The flags on the end of pier 39 were fluttering moderately.

We then sailed all the way across the bay toward Sausalito in winds ther were irregular in velocity-- patches of light wind and then bigger gusts-- and then finally encountered this small ketch heading down the shore of the headlands, flying jib and mizzen sails.

Skies gradually became more overcast with thin high cloud, rendering the GGB more hazy than when bathed in bright sunshine.

Mt. Tam was locked in haze with its peak smothered in cloud.

That small ketch ducked out into the central bay and then quickly retreated back toward Sausalito.

As we headed toward home port, we experienced some really strong and sudden wind gusts that pulled us dramatically to weather and then just as suddenly disappeared, and later ADVENTURE CAT passed us, heading eventually for the gate on its next cruise.

The city was bathed in cloud-filtered sunshine as we approached home port.
With a cruise ship docked on the east side of pier 35 and dredging barges partially blocking the passageway between the marina and the west side of pier 35, we doused sails outside the east marina and readied for landing before motoring past the dredging barges.
